Aromatherapy Monday: Sweet Marjoram

Origanum majorana or Sweet Marjoram is steam distilled from flowers and leaves. It originates in South Africa and has a slightly spicy, herbaceous, campherous aroma. It is mostly used for culinary purposes, but this unique herb can have other purposes too.

Some benefits of Sweet Marjoram are known for…

  • lowering high blood pressure
  • anti-spasmotic properties to help ease cramps and arthritis
  • using it as a slight sedative
  • relieving stress
  • menstrual issues (do not use during pregnancy)

It blends best with lavender, clary sage, citruses, and eucalyptus.
