Aromatherapy Monday: Sandalwood

This week’s essential oil profile is Sandalwood (Santalum Album). It is distilled from the bark of the trees in Australia, India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, New Caledonia, or Vanuatu. Sandalwood, if properly stored, can actually age beautifully over time. It’s used in many spiritual settings, as a base note in many perfumes and colognes,  and also as an aphrodisiac. ¹

Some benefits² for Sandalwood are:

  • Bronchitis, Laryngitis
  • Dry skin, chapped lips
  • Balances Stress, irritation and depression

Sandalwood is known as a universal oil so try mixing it with any of your other favorites. My personal favorite blends are with citruses or vanilla.
